Statement on Mosquito Concerns in West Carleton-March

Our office has recently received many inquiries regarding the persistent mosquito problem in our area. The following form message is to provide everyone with the same information for consistency. Bottom line up front, we strongly do not support any such program. To spray our Ward or even specific areas would be cost prohibitive. Furthermore the addition of more chemicals to our environment is unwarranted and a health hazard. Finally, as a local beekeeper and one who is hearing about another significant die off of bees across the province this spring, my losses are now at 33% and other commercial beekeepers in the area have experienced 80% and higher, we cannot tolerate more adverse chemicals in the environment that will kill our livestock.


 Yes, I dislike mosquitoes but it is a fact of life in northern/eastern Ontario’s rural area. Folks must use non invasive and chemical free solutions like planting…

NO to toxic spraying in the Village. Suffer from Asthma and between potential fire smoke and AQI issues adding to this is simply unfair to those of us who need clean air to breathe. How is it possible that people move out to the “country” and then demand that wildlife ..critters and bugs be decimated to the detriment of our environment.
