Carp River: Low Water Status Update, Report of Residential Well Running Dry

We had a call on Tuesday (Sept 9) from a resident whose well has run dry, not far from our Ward 5 office in Kinburn. There's a chance there may be others who are or may soon find themselves in the same situation.

As the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority advised last week, present conditions in the Carp River Watershed have reached Level 3 (Severe) Low Water thresholds.
The MVCA is encouraging ALL water users who are not on the City of Ottawa's municipal distribution network to reduce their water consumption by 50% to help mitigate the impacts of the low water conditions.
The link below provides information on what people can do if their well does go dry, and which City facilities are available for their use if they need potable water and/or showers etc.
Here's the provincial site on what do in times of water shortage.
And you can track low water lever advisories at the MVCA's Carp River Low Water Status website page.
If you have a question about this or any other Ward or City issue, just send an email to Clarke.Kelly@Ottawa.ca or call our office at 613-580-2475. You can also submit a report to Ottawa.ca/en/3-1-1.
