Flood Watch: Residents With Sandbag Walls Encouraged To Leave Them Intact For Now

A quick update from the Freshet Task force.

We continue to monitor water levels along the Ottawa River. While our partner conservation authorities have downgraded their flood warning statements to flood watches late last week, the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board also indicates that the precipitation forecast for the coming days could slow the decrease of water levels. 

As such, we recommend residents with sandbag walls erected leave them intact for the time being. The City is planning a coordinated curbside collection of these sandbags and will give residents sufficient notice to dismantle their walls in time for the collection. 

In the meantime, our sandbag depots remain open at these locations.
