Road Resurfacing to Begin April 22 Along Carp Road and Diamondview

As part of the City of Ottawa’s annual infrastructure maintenance cycle, road resurfacing will occur along Carp Road (OR 5) and Diamondview Road. For more information about road renewal, please visit ottawa.ca/constructionmap.

What: Work will involve milling or pulverizing of the existing surface, possible granular material placement, adjustment of maintenance holes and catch basin grates, concrete repairs, and roadway resurfacing. Increased noise levels to be expected in order to facilitate the work.

Why: The City of Ottawa will be resurfacing roads as preventative maintenance aimed at extending the City's roadway network lifecycle. When: This work is expected to start the week of April 22 and completion is anticipated by fall 2024. The road will remain open to traffic with lane closures expected. Traffic control personnel will direct traffic through the site.

Where: The following roadways will be resurfaced during the day and evening and will involve minor lane interruptions:

• Carp Road (OR 5) from Donald B. Munro Drive to Thomas A. Dolan Parkway

• Diamondview Road from Thomas A. Dolan Parkway to Baird Side Road

Weekend work is anticipated for all locations and traffic interruptions may also be experienced due to flagging operations.

Who: The City of Ottawa has retained the contractor, GIP Paving, to complete the work.

We encourage residents to contact the undersigned to identify and confirm that private irrigations systems have been disconnected or relocated. Damage may occur, should you choose not to relocate prior to our arrival.

Impact on the right of way and adjacent private properties

The construction is within the City’s right of way but may result in some disruption to part of the private property directly adjacent to the work. The City will reinstate sections of landscaping, driveways and walkways that are disturbed by construction. However, if you have plants or any other assets located within the City’s right of way that you want to preserve, we suggest that you move them in preparation for the construction work. If you own a subsurface lawn irrigation system or heated driveway system, please notify the City’s Project Manager.

Accessibility

Accessibility is an important consideration for the City of Ottawa. The City makes every effort to provide access through and around construction sites. If you require a disability-related accommodation, please contact the undersigned. Accessible formats and communication supports are available, upon request, at the following link: www.ottawa.ca/accessibleformat

On-street parking

As the various road reconstruction activities are in progress on your street, on-street parking may be restricted. In the event that access to your driveway will be impacted, you will receive 24-hours’ notice and provided with a Temporary On-Street Parking Permit (orange form) to permit on-street parking within two blocks of your residence. Residents with electric vehicles will need to find alternative charging arrangements when access is restricted. The use of extension cords within the public right of way is not permitted.

Should you have additional concerns about reduced access, such as business deliveries or accessibility requirements, please contact the project manager, who's contact info is listed in the document below:
