Second Public Consultation Meeting for Dunrobin Solar Project

Councillor Kelly's Statement on Dunrobin Solar Project and Second Public Meeting Coming Up Later This Month:

On August 13th, Westbridge Renewable Energy Corp. held a virtual public consultation for their proposed 400-acre solar project in Dunrobin. Unfortunately, there were residents who were unable to join the virtual session, including myself, due to technical difficulties.

In my recent meeting with them, I requested that they hold a second consultation and was very pleased to receive a commitment from them to do just that. The second meeting will be held in-person on Wednesday September 24th from 6-8pm (location TBA).

Public consultation on projects of this nature is extremely important and in several past applications in our ward the applicants have fallen short in that regard. Hearing residents' questions and the responses they receive is a vital part of my decision-making process when considering support for a Municipal Support Resolution. There remain some important unanswered questions about this particular project application, and I look forward to hearing the updated info from Westbridge as well as the feedback from residents.

Please save the date and time for now. When I receive more details such as location (this will be an in-person session), I will provide that info here on our website, social media and newsletter (see links below).
