I’d like to extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Norm Ross, who passed away on Friday at the age of 71 following a brief illness.
Norm spent 35 years as an OC Transpo bus driver, and eventually he and his wife, Barb, moved to Galetta to embrace rural life. Norm became a familiar, beloved presence in the community, and for over two decades, he contributed in so many ways.
He served as both a dedicated volunteer and a key leader on the Galetta Community Association board, where his time and energy helped make Galetta a stronger and more connected community.
I had the privilege to get to know Norm through his role as the President of the Galetta Community Association, a role he undertook with passion, and commitment. He was a dedicated leader in his community, and he was the rink operator for Galetta, which is well-known as one of the Ottawa Valley’s best-maintained rinks!
Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Norm during an informal gathering at the Galetta Community Centre on Sunday, March 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. Words of remembrance will begin at 3 p.m., and refreshments will be served.
